Susan Faulkner is a Bates Consulting Expert and CEO of Marquis Software Solutions, Inc. and a dedicated, proven senior executive with 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. Ms. Faulkner has broad-based knowledge and expertise across finance, strategy, risk management, treasury, and consumer and small business products, payments, operations, sales, and customer service. She holds a demonstrated track record of successfully leading highly complex, challenging organizations and initiatives. Ms. Faulkner is a recognized strong strategic leader who aligns strategies and resources to meet the needs and objectives of customers, teammates, and shareholders to deliver results.
Ms. Faulkner has also assisted companies evaluate, assess, and launch innovative financial services business-related solutions, products, and capabilities. Additionally, she provides strategic guidance, direction and insights for not-for-profit organizations and CEOs.
Ms. Faulkner served as the Bank of America Enterprise Risk Executive responsible for providing enterprise-level credit risk oversight and reporting, establishing credit risk management policies and standards, providing forward-looking analytics and insights about the company’s credit portfolios, as well as monitoring and reporting of systemic risk issues. Her team aligned the company’s portfolio management framework with the bank’s risk appetite and risk framework while overseeing risk policy and governance, credit risk regulatory reporting, risk ratings, limits and asset quality and allowance. The team also provided the enterprise perspective needed to proactively manage risk well to benefit the bank’s customers, clients, and shareholders.
Prior to her Enterprise Risk Executive role, Ms. Faulkner led the Consumer Credit & Product Operations organization, where she managed the credit and core operations platforms that span all U.S. consumer customers, including secured and unsecured credit and underwriting, home loans fulfillment, deposit and credit operations, and insurance and protection products. She was responsible for delivering the best financial solutions for Bank of America’s 50 million consumer relationships.
During her time as a consumer & small business products executive, Ms. Faulkner was responsible for managing consumer and small business deposits, debit and credit card portfolios, the company’s non-card unsecured lending and home loans products in the U.S. Additionally, she managed the customer segments & deposits division, where she led the team that developed the bank’s customer segment strategy with a focus on providing integrated product solutions for customers, as well as the global sales, service & marketing executive responsible for integrating product and service delivery across all distribution channels.
Before joining the consumer bank, Ms. Faulkner held the role of Portfolio Analysis & Review Executive within the risk management organization and was focused on driving strategic assessment of the enterprise credit portfolio and on improving policies, tools, and processes for managing credit across the company. She joined Risk Management in October 2003 as the Central Credit Risk Management & Portfolio Analysis Executive.
Ms. Faulkner also served as Chief Financial Officer for the consumer and commercial bank and served as the Finance and Risk Executive for the Bank of America and Fleet Bank during 2003-2004. She was responsible for managing the overall financial and risk results for the merger and well as the successful integration of the Finance and Risk organizations, operations, and systems.
Ms. Faulkner joined the bank in 1984 in the finance division where she held many different positions and leadership roles in corporate accounting/performance measurement, financial reporting and policy, asset securitization & structured transaction support, treasury support, financial analysis, and reporting & management accounting.
Ms. Faulkner has served on the board of the Consumer Bankers Association (past Chair) and is a past member of the Financial Services Roundtable. In the community, she currently serves on the boards of the Charlotte Arts and Science Council (Chair), United Way of the Central Carolinas Legacy Foundation (Chair-elect), and the Urban Ministries Center. Additionally, she served on the board of the United Way of the Central Carolinas (past Chair). In 2008, the Charlotte Business Journal named Faulkner to its list of Top 25 Women in Business.
