Rene E. Lamar

Rene E. Lamar is a Bates Testifying Expert with more than 40 years of legal experience. His practice has focused on advising ultra-high-net-worth international clients in estate planning within cross-cultural settings. Mr. Lamar’s expertise includes converting business structures into compliant estate and wealth-planning vehicles, integrating life insurance policies into broader estate planning platforms at major financial institutions, and navigating the legal and regulatory landscapes in cross-border planning. He possesses considerable in-country working experience in Mexico, Venezuela, Argentina, the Dominican Republic, the Caribbean, Chile, Brazil, Panama, and Costa Rica. Mr. Lamar has also held executive-level positions at Merrill Lynch, R. E. Lee International, Pan American Life Insurance Company, and Trident Trust Group.

In addition to his work in the financial and insurance industries, Mr. Lamar has practiced law independently and has considerable expertise in complex dispute resolution cases. He is certified as a Circuit Civil Mediator by the Supreme Court of Florida and designated by FINRA as a Non-Public Arbitrator. He is a member in good standing of the Florida Bar, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, the Trial Bar of the U.S. Southern District of Florida and the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mr. Lamar holds, or has held, the following additional licenses and certifications: T.E.P. Designation by the Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners (STEP); State of Florida Health, Life and Variable Annuities License; Member of the Grievance Committee of the Florida Bar; and Member of the Miami-Dade Value Adjustment Board.
