Edward Truax

Ed Truax is a Bates Group Testifying Expert located in Lake Oswego, Oregon with more than 30 years of experience as a financial advisor and consultant. He brings a wealth of experience with the suitability and sales practices of life insurance, annuity products, qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, in both individual and corporate settings. He has offered expert testimony in life insurance related civil litigation and served as Chairman of an arbitration panel deciding matters related to insurance agency dissolution.

Ed’s career in the industry began in 1988 as a team member of Coordinated Financial Planning of Lake Oswego. His firm was one of a few firms that introduced the concept of fee-based financial planning services. His focus was, and remains, the intergenerational transfer of family-owned and closely held business interests. He is experienced as a keynote speaker, sales concept trainer, and provider of continuing education.

In addition to his industry experience, he served four four-year terms as an elected member of the City Council of Tualatin, Oregon. He has represented his city on numerous local and regional boards and commissions dealing primarily with Water Planning, Economic Development, and Land Use Planning, as both a Board Member and Board Chairman. Those 16 years of service provided a depth of experience in analyzing complex facts and materials, both hearing and providing public testimony in an open meeting setting and learning to maintain composure while enduring the name calling inherent to public service.

He has a Bachelor of Science Degree with Honors from Oregon State University, and the designation of Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant from The American College. He is an Investment Advisor Representative and Licensed Insurance Consultant who successfully passed the Series 6 and 63 examinations.
