Justin Vick is a Director in Bates Group’s Fintech and Banking Practice with more than 14 years of experience in BSA/AML and OFAC compliance. He leads the firm’s Independent Review and Outsourced Compliance teams, overseeing client delivery across fintech, banking, payments, money services business (MSB), and Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) engagements. He also helps shape departmental strategy, supports business development efforts, and advises clients on strengthening compliance programs in complex and evolving regulatory environments.
Justin’s experience includes independent reviews, compliance management system reviews, AML risk assessments, and remediation support, with a focus on strengthening established compliance programs and enhancing oversight frameworks. He is particularly experienced in fintech, BaaS, MSB, payments, and banking environments, where he works with both fintech companies and financial institutions to address regulatory expectations, improve governance, and enhance program oversight.
Before joining Bates Group, Justin spent more than 11 years as a state regulator with the Washington State Department of Financial Institutions, where he developed deep experience supervising financial institutions and evaluating compliance programs. He later held a senior role at a digital asset company, adding an in-house perspective to his regulatory background. He is a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS).
